Hygiene Product Drive

Hygiene Product Drive, formerly known as Period Product Drive, is one of two drives The Junior League of San Francisco Advocacy Committee hosts annually. The purpose of the Hygiene Product Drive is to bridge the gap of essential needs by collecting donations to support access to basic hygiene and necessities to women and girls, creating a foundation for healthier and more impactful lives.

People experiencing homelessness in the United States encounter barriers to self-care and personal hygiene (Leibler, Jessica H et al, 2017). In addition, individuals experiencing poverty also encounter similar barriers (Simply the Basics, 2022). Personal hygiene encompasses all of the daily routines that help keep your body clean such as regular healthy habits of brushing your teeth, washing your hair, washing your hands, cleaning your body with soap and water, wearing deodorant, and keeping your clothing clean (Simply the Basics, 2022). Barriers to access personal hygiene could increase the likelihood of health issues.

This year, our drive will benefit Simply the Basics, whose mission is to provide people and communities their most basic needs with dignity so people can focus on their goals. They strive to make hygiene more equitable and accessible.

Join The Junior League of San Francisco Advocacy Committee in collecting donations for Simply the Basics here from February 3th, 2025 until March 3th, 2025.
