Guidelines of Behavior for Prospective Members

At The Junior League of San Francisco (“JLSF”), we are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive community. All prospective members must align with our values and mission and adhere to the following guidelines. Non-compliance may result in the refusal of membership.

  1. Respect and Inclusion:
    Prospective members must demonstrate respect for all individuals, valuing diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Disrespectful or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.
  2. Professionalism and Courtesy:
    Members should maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at JLSF events, interacting respectfully with all members, prospective members, and external partners. 
  3. Commitment to the Mission:
    Prospective members should be committed to JLSF’s mission of promoting volunteerism and improving communities, actively contributing to the League’s activities and projects.
  4. Positive Attitude and Teamwork:
    A positive, collaborative attitude is essential. Members should be open to feedback, work well with others, and contribute to a supportive environment.
  5. Respect for JLSF Values:
    All prospective members must respect the core values of JLSF, including diversity, inclusion, and community service. Behavior contrary to these values may result in reconsideration of membership.
  6. Operating under Membership Volunteer Guidelines:
    Prospective members must adhere to the same guidelines as members for DIAD (“Done in a Day”) volunteer opportunities. Alcohol consumption or being under the influence during volunteer shifts is prohibited, and compliance with event rules is expected.

Right to Refuse Membership:
JLSF reserves the right to refuse membership to individuals whose behavior does not align with these guidelines or reflect the League’s values, in order to maintain a welcoming, respectful, and productive environment.
